the contemplative mind








































the contemplative mind is an outcome in the search of finding ways to produce an atmospheric description which defines a vague imagination in a very precise way. It is visualised through narratives that helped in construction of spaces and their ambience and gave an account of a not yet existing situation, something which is was conceived only in my thoughts. These descriptions acted as vehicle of empathy, to be able to build spatial themes that give more attention to the experiential factors of architecture. I seek to understand the emotional depth in the perception of the space before the creation of the material space itself.

As I approach the building, I can feel the strong presence of the existing atmosphere of the place. I can hear the sounds of nature, the wind and children playing in distant background. There is an unevenness In the walk because of gravel under my feet, and as I am just drifting along from between the trees, I see a small building that appears to be firmly anchored to the ground.

Walking towards the building I get attracted to what appears to be more intimate space. The extended rough bamboo above my head gets continued into the indoors of the built in front me, making the whole space as one. The unapparent transition between the inside and the outside, I continue to get attracted to the indoors very

The central court is acting as a network of possible approaches to many specific destinations. Standing here, I am able to see a labyrinth of books and shelves in one of the halls whereas the other room seems to be more absorbing with sharp focused sunbeams entering into the contemplative space. The court for one, is a collective, where I can have conversations with the guest, It serves like the verandahs for the whole place

There is an incredible sense of concentration when I am suddenly aware of being in an enclosed space. The space is a good intimate place to sit for people to sit and read in silence but to also navigate through the many many books I am surrounded with.

I am caught between books and trees. I find myself sitting outdoors, drinking coffee and discussing and reading a book under the shadow of the extended roof over my head. The place belongs to the build behind but also is a connection to the garden that lies ahead of me.
